Define the home before comparing firms
A useful brief identifies the parcel, design priorities, level of customization and features that matter most. Separate necessary requirements from optional finishes so each builder can explain the effect on scope and cost.
Decide whether you need a new design, an adaptation of a company plan or an available home. Those paths can offer different levels of control even when every company describes its homes as luxury.
Examine the actual service model
Infinity describes custom design-build, pre-built homes and remodeling. Landmark offers build-on-your-lot construction and a design center. Justice offers both custom owner-land work and community inventory.
Ask who prepares the architecture, engineering and interior specifications, and whether those services sit inside the construction agreement. Verify which office and team will handle your project.
Read the award’s scope
COHBA’s Fall 2026 Best Overall results name Infinity’s 9800 NE 149th Terrace home in Edmond in the $2 million-plus category. The table also names Landmark projects in Edmond and Norman, along with Authentic and McCaleb projects in Edmond.
These are specific judged entries in separate price groups. They are evidence worth exploring, not a single ranking of all builders or a guarantee of results on a different house.
Ask about execution and documentation
Review comparable completed work, the site investigation process and how the builder coordinates consultants and subcontractors. Ask for examples that match your project’s construction route and complexity.
Put the specification, allowance schedule, change-order process and decision deadlines in writing. Ask how product substitutions, inspections, deficiencies and warranty requests are handled.
Verify the project’s legal and local requirements
Government checks must match the contracting entity and actual municipality. Oklahoma City’s residential-builder registration requirement applies inside its city limits; an Edmond or Norman project follows its own local process.
The directory has not independently completed individual entity, registration, insurance or enforcement checks for these new records. Treat the profiles as a source-backed shortlist and complete those checks before signing.
